In setting the standard 2016 we travel to Wacol near Brisbane to catch up with Ken Easter and have a closer look at his family-run company, K.S. Easter Haulage, which celebrated its 40th year in business in 2016. It quickly becomes apparent during our visit just why the title of setting the standard is so appropriate for this company especially with their attitude towards compliance. Their commitment to Truck Safe and the strict compliance regime surrounding this set of strict criteria is somewhat second to none.
K.S. Easter Haulage is by far one of the most progressive and technologically advanced companies we’ve seen in a long time Shane Lansdown, one of our guest hosts, has a look at what has made Ken such a success in the industry and has a chat with two of Ken’s sons as to what they see as challenges for our industry both now and into the future. Shane discusses with Ken the reasons he chooses the immaculate equipment he does and also his ongoing commitment to customer service. Initially starting his company in Newcastle, Ken discovered that it would be more pertinent to move his business to Brisbane and operate from there due to the ease of getting trucks serviced and cleaned etc. in the middle of the week and on weekends.
Easters’ bread and butter operations are primarily involved with the “time-sensitive” sector on the eastern seaboard of Australia with the Sydney to Brisbane run arguably being one of the most challenging routes for a single driver in this climate of regulation, however, their footprint into other areas and freight routes expands where needed. K.S. Easter Haulage is by far one of the most progressive and technologically advanced companies we’ve seen in a long time and above all else, some of the damn nicest people you will find in our industry today.
